Summer series 2026 scaled

Hi there,

Scorching scarlet, red hot vermillion, fiery pink, dioxazine purple… no, not my new paint palette but the varying shades of my face over the last two weeks. I think I nearly reached fluorescent pink at one point last week. Anyway, moving on!

May seems a really long time ago, it was such a lovely Open Studio, I met lots of new art lovers, and had brilliant conversations about art, life in Wimbledon and actually life in general. Thank you every single one of you that stopped by to say hello and see my new work. Enormous thank you to my new subscribers and to those that took home a painting, you help me to keep going, so my deepest thanks to you also.

This spring was so vibrant, every flower bed, bit of roadside scrubland and pot plant had life bursting out of it. I felt compelled to paint the life springing out of every nook and cranny. Flowers, I’ve never thought about it, but if you zoom in to one of my abstract landscapes, the chances are you might find abstract flowers and forna! I have started a series of paintings dedicated to the scrubby places, where life finds a way, and from time to time, you find a wild rose, verbena or a peony in a place you might not expect. We live by the railway, and such seemingly abandoned areas are rich in life and so full of diversity and colour, texture and smells. Enclosed a few images of recent work. Fear not, my landscape lovers, I am working on landscapes alongside the flowers, I actually feel that they compliment each other really well. It’s exciting for me to find another string of questions in my work, to see just how figurative or abstract I can be to say what I am trying to say.

I would like to paint some more big pieces, maybe up to 2 meters wide? If you are interested in seeing more of this, let me know – feedback is essential.

Summer break is coming fast, my 2 little ones will be keeping me busy for many weeks before we gently slide into late summer and my very favourite season, the Autumn. Not wishing away my days, just enjoying all the prospects of what is yet to come in 2026. I hope your year has been good, as we slip past the halfway point, and I hope the rest of your year is fresh and fully fabulous.

See you soon, thank you again,

Alison
