Wimbledon-based landscape painter Alison Clarke will appear on the upcoming series of Sky Landscape Artist of the Year 2026, marking a major milestone in her artistic career.

Alison has been selected as one of just eight “pod” artists to compete in her televised heat, following a rigorous national selection process. Her recent painting Ever Mine, inspired by Wimbledon Common, was shortlisted for both the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the Royal West of England Academy Autumn Exhibition, gaining recognition for its depth, texture, and expressive semi-abstract style.

The competition challenges artists to create work under intense time pressure while being filmed and assessed by judges, with a £10,000 commission prize and significant national exposure at stake.

“Being part of Sky Landscape Artist of the Year has always been a dream,” says Alison, who has lived and worked in Wimbledon for over 15 years. “It’s an honour to be selected, and I’m excited to see how the experience pushes my work forward.”

With strong support from collectors, clients, friends, and family, Alison’s appearance is keenly anticipated. Regardless of the outcome, she views the opportunity as part of a wider creative journey.

“This experience is about growth and staying true to my practice,” she adds. “It’s one step in a much bigger picture.”

The episode will broadcast at 8pm on 28 January and can be viewed on Sky Arts (Sky channel 124), Freeview channel 36 and Now TV.
