Emotional is a word I get alot with regard to my paintings, but rarely has one piece brought up so much emotion, from me but mostly the parents of the children in my daughter’s class. I wanted to say Thankyou to their teacher (because she is awesome) so I worked this up for her on a huge piece of watercolour paper. We gave it to her today, and it was a kind of magical moment, to see her face and her reaction. As the husband of a head teacher, brother in law of two head teachers, cousin of another and step father/ father in law to two more and uncle of another three- bloody brilliant. My wife is quite emotional about it!!

A pair. Working in pairs works for me - particularly when looking at trees, I love the way they are neighbours for so very long, they grow together, the space in between them. Forty years ago today, a beautiful soul left this world, left me actually also - he was 17, stupid car accident, wasted life. This poem has always been mine for him.
