Hello and welcome to a new year of painting and creating with me!
I’ve been flat out since November on a series of paintings to take to the upcoming Fresh London Art Fair at Alexandra Palace 30 January – 2 February.
Despite seriously chilly conditions in the studio, and a real struggle with muddy dull paintings, I’m happy to say, I’ve produced some really uplifting pieces, and I’m satisfied that as a collection they harmonise. I’ve never showed on such a large platform before, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
I’m sharing my stand with the very talented and super person Sarah Rutherford, a figurative portrait artist that also works at Wimbledon Art Studios. We’re so different in our work, we embrace the differences, and the work actually sings together! I will share some photos when the stand is all set, and we’re ready to go.
This is undoubtedly my most productive time of the year, and I’ve really pushed hard to get to a new level of understanding light and space in these recent paintings. I’ve also resumed painting the sea and shore; it’s been a long time since I’ve really observed and given so much attention to the sea in my work, and I’m loving it!
After the Fresh show, I think some day trips to see friends at the coast will be on the agenda, for sketching and a catch up, you know who you are, be ready to get the kettle on!
Incidentally, if you would like complimentary tickets for the Fresh London Art Fair, I have some, just drop me a line and I can send you a link. I would love to see you!
To the new people, thank you for subscribing, every person that follows or comments or comes to talk to me about my work gives me so much encouragement and helps me in my direction and keeps me motivated, I really appreciate all of it.
Right, those frames are not going to make themselves, time to get back to the slightly less exciting part of putting a show together.
Stay warm and well
Alison
